Holy Moments
by Mary Justene Martin
January 20, 2012

You are standing on Holy ground. (Exodus 3: 5 Message)

The presence of God spoke to Moses from a burning bush. God
was about to send Moses to deliver His people from 400 years
of slavery. This was indeed, a Holy Moment in a Holy Place, a
solemn revelation. God had seen their affliction and was about
to set His children free. Then on the hill of Golgotha, centuries
later, another Holy Moment occurred. The Son of God uttered, "It
is finished." The earth turned dark and all who were there knew
they were in a Holy Moment. How long has it been since you felt
the Presence of God so strong that you trembled at His
Holiness? Do you consider your entrance into His Holy
Presence a solemn moment?

The world has once again found itself in slavery. We consider it
a common thing to rise and go to work in bondage each day, and
then take that slavery mentality to church once a week and
never even consider it to be a Holy place. We do not expect that
solemn moment, nor do we expect an encounter with Almighty
God. I seem to always be expressing my disappointment at
what the church at large has become,  but if you are not
experiencing a "knowing" that someone besides the speaker is
actually communicating, you are being robbed of your Holy
moment with God.  Unless you are compelled to drop to your
knees in breathless anticipation, you are not in the presence of
a Holy God. We are slaves to our traditions and believe we will
not encounter God until we die and go to heaven, but God
walked with Adam while he was yet alive. He met with Moses
and with many of our fathers in the scriptures, in person, and He
will meet with us today. It will be no less a solemn moment. He
is still Holy and He desires an encounter of Holy worship. God
wants to deliver His children from the slavery of this worldly
system. He promised a kingdom of freedom and peace, our
promised land. He is speaking right now to Holy Ones who will
take off their shoes and recognize they are standing in His Holy
Presence. Our children are being exploited and slaughtered.
God hears their innocent cries.

Question: Will we go to church and sing another song, or will we
take off our shoes in the presence of a Holy God, and expect a
solemn revelation of His desire and plan to set them free?
