Imagine

Do not fret because of evildoers,
Be not envious toward wrongdoers.
For they will wither quickly like the grass
And fade like the green herb.
Trust in the LORD and do good;
Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the LORD;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light
And your judgment as the noonday. (Psalm 37:1-6)
Imagine with me for a moment that you were to wake up one
morning with amnesia. You have no past, and without a past you
cannot imagine a future. Old thoughts cannot dictate who you
are because they are gone! All you have is right now! Think
about it. You are born again! You are like a new born baby, you
trust everyone at this point. You have no reason not to. From
this point you must develop a new you. Like a new baby you
must experience everything brand new!
Is that not what this passage is suggesting? That you
concentrate on your new life (because you have no old life) and
allow what happens to just happen, knowing that someone else
is taking care of you. You have no reason to believe they are
mean, or waiting to punish you, you just trust that they love you
and will bring to pass whatever you need. Now imagine that
there are others around you in the same place. Each of them
there with no past and no agenda, just enjoying life and trusting
their Source. You are now in the presence of a family of
innocent, trusting people who are experiencing the wonders of
this present moment because they have no frame of reference
for anything else.
Of course this is an exercise in simplicity. But I believe until we
can come to God with complete trust that nothing that has
happened to us can dictate who we are, or make Him unhappy
with us, we will never find the joy of just being His child. Never
know what it is to just love and be loved.
Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in
Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)
Do you really have to deal with all those things you are thinking
about all the time? Or can you just take your father's hand and
let Him guide you to all the important places He wants to go
today? Can you think of Holy Spirit as your mother who adores
you and cares for your whole family, teaching you how to love
one another, and be happy together? You do not have to run
away and hide in a corner as a lonely individual. You are
perfectly loved and cared for as a unit, by your Mother and
Father.
Read this scripture in Psalm 37 again, and consider that each
and every day you are born again. No past, and no future, just a
clean slate to start all over in the family of God. Now let's see
Holy Spirit, what shall we do today?
