That Which Is Not Seen
by Mary Justene Martin
January 26, 2012

So he answered, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more
than those who are with them." Then Elisha prayed and said, "Oh
Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." And the Lord
opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain
was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. (2Kings 6:
16,17)

What you are seeing may look critical, however we walk by
faith, not by sight. We have heard those words as Christians for
ages. But the crunch comes when we have the opportunity to
put faith into action. God showed Elisha’s servant how many
were with them. The servant was indeed, looking at the
circumstance. We are called to look into the unseen and keep
our vision strong. The people without vision are the ones who
perish. We must hold to our vision, and keep it locked tight
within our heart. Only when we take our focus off our vision and
begin to see what our physical eyes see, does our faith begin to
waiver. We are surrounded by angels, we are surrounded by
help from the most High God, and He is willing to show us how
safe we are if we pray.

Look at the circumstance as a challenge to really see what God
is doing in your life. Don’t look into the future and try to figure
out what peril is about to befall you. Don’t look back at what peril
happened in similar circumstances. Pray and ask God to show
you what He is doing right now, and thank Him that He has given
you vision instead of mere sight.
