Little Things
April 27, 2009

I’m grateful for the little things,
The seconds of my days,
The times I spent just wandering
So many different ways.

A little girl just growing up
Playing on the farm.
Watching grandpa milk the cows,
The milk so fresh and warm.

I’m grateful for my brother
He was such a little pest,
But now that he is gone,
I realize how I was blessed.

A mom and dad who loved us,
And each other, what a joy,
They kept the home fires burning
For their little girl and boy.

Walking to a one room school
Talking to our friends,
Going out for recess,
Thought those times would never end.

High school days were simpler
We learned to rock and dance
Parties at each other’s house,
Movies for romance.

It’s time now for recalling
Those days of innocence
Returning to the simple life
It makes so much more sense.

To just enjoy the seconds
And leave the days alone,
Being grateful for each moment,
We’ve been blessed to call our own.
