Like a lizard that lies in the sun, I’ve been changing since day number one, Trying to fill my own need, Only feeding my greed My life has become, not much fun. People pleasing an impossible chore You wind up just being a bore, And you find in the end, That you’re nobody’s friend, And it eats away at your core. So I’m changing one last time today, My new life, I’ll be giving away, To someone who needs more Than I did before, And I’ll say to myself "Come what may!" Chameleons use disguise for protection, To keep themselves from detection, But what a price we must pay When ourselves we betray, Not me! I’ll be seeking perfection. |
