There was a time when all was new And innocence prevailed Evil was only in fairy tales, Just a story our hearts beheld. All that we needed was simply there, Waiting for us to acquire, And as we grew ambition came Setting our hearts on fire. Suddenly life became askew A ladder before us loomed high, And only the winners could reach the top, Never minding who they passed by. Innocent people who stood in the way, Children who couldn't protest, Were overrun by the maddening crowd Clawing for their own quest. Elderly parents who once were strong, Weakened by evil lies, Told they were useless, cast aside, Left in the dust to die. Is there one who will say " I've had enough!" I'm tired of being called weak, I'll stand up and fight for the rest of us, I'll fight for the justice I seek!" "It won't be by power or might," says the Lord, "But my Spirit will conquer the foe, Through those who will come as a little child", Back to innocence we all must go! |
