Running On Empty
November 12, 2000
Justene Martin

Running on empty there's nothing left
You're at the end of your rope!
You're picking up sticks and starting a fire
You're fixing to eat your last hope.

Just a handful of meal and a few drops of oil
You'll eat it and then you'll die.
You're ready to throw in the towel, so to speak
Was it really just pie in the sky?

But the man of God (whoever that is)
Challenges you to dig deep within
And find the courage to give it away
Maybe it'll help others to win.

You need a miracle, no denying it's true
Or you'll die with your song left unsung.
Is it possible? Can the Lord still use you?
Was the miracle you all along?

So your heart leaps within you you've heard the call
You've found a reason to live,
All Jesus is asking is to take that new life
And give all that you have to give.

So your running on empty, but each new day
You find as you reach in the store
That it never runs out, when you give it away
That it comes back, More and more.
