Sleeper
October 6, 2006
Justene Martin

O sleeper as you dream the people perish
Hypnotized and drunken in your lust,
Thinking that tomorrow you’ll be ready
To rid the world of everything unjust.
But as you wait and join your blinded brothers
Who are crying "Peace and safety!" In the street,
An enemy grows stronger by the moment,
Who plots, with cruel torture, your defeat.
Your children slaughtered while you lay there sleeping
You wonder where they’ve gone, you’ll never know,
But when the door is slammed and you’re left screaming,
There’ll be nowhere to run, nowhere to go.
This enemy of complacency is evil,
He only needs to blind your lazy eyes,
While you keep running here and there for answers,
The evil one is planning your demise.
Until the Lord Himself removes the scales
That cover up your educated eyes,
Humanity lies dying in the ashes,
Awaiting you O sleeper to arise!
