The Journey
January 24, 2002
Justene Martin

Where are you going my little girl?
I think I'll go very far.
The moon has already been conquered,
I'll think I'll reach for a star.

Where are you going young woman?
There's no limit to where I can reach.
A doctor, a lawyer, a chemist.
A teacher, I might even preach!

Where are you going young mother?
I'm raising my family now.
I still have my hopes and ambitions.
But they're on hold for awhile.

Where are you going dear woman?
Well, it looks like I'll never be.
The dreams I had are forsaken,
My choices were taken from me.

"Not so!" Says the one who created
This beautiful work in progress.
"You've only begun on this journey,
I've only started to bless!"

"You were faithful in doing the small things,
You were hidden away to prepare,
For the awesome things I have planned for
The things I placed in your care."

"I have not forgotten one moment
I've not overlooked one tear!
Didn't I always tell you
'My child, you have nothing to fear'?"

So where are you going dear lady?
I'm taking one step at a time.
I've come through the fire and the purging,
And this time the journey is mine!
