The Path
Submitted March 25, 2006
Justene Martin

Today I seek another me
Whose life's wrapped up in you!
Erasing who I used to be
I reach for life that's new.

I have looked for all my life
a thousand years it seems,
For something that's within me
To show me what life means.

But I'll not look another day
For I've already trod
The paths that trace my selfish life,
I'll search instead for God.

In this pit of loneliness
My soul waits in despair,
I hide behind excuses,
But I find no comfort there.

At last I know the reason
Why the years have drained away.
It isn't me I'm searching for
But the One who framed my days.

The One who know the season,
Knows exactly where I am
And is waiting to go with me,
To serve our Masters' plan.

At last the search is over,
The treasure that I seek,
Is in the One who loves me,
He's so innocent and meek,

With head bowed low before me,
He Looks into my eyes
And I am lost in Him.
Now I finally realize,

There never was a real me
Before I looked into those eyes
The me that I was searching for
Is in Him, He is my Prize!
