Winter Woman
December 11, 2006
Justene Martin

Evening falls and fast the winter’s sun
Ducks behind the earth’s majestic hue,
a masterpiece of purples, pinks and yellows
From behind the clouds of violet blue.
Morning brought her dancing, full of vibrancy
Claiming she was up and at her best,
Then at noon she kissed the midday roses,
But now she whispers "Come it’s time to rest"
Make no mistake, she truly was a beauty,
She danced upon the meadow fresh and fair,
But now her smile is even more beguiling,
For she knows that God has kissed and placed her there.
Yes, every woman starts her day uncertain,
Her steps may falter, underneath her load,
But as the evening finally approaches,
She walks in beauty, now she knows her road.
